Ectoedemia quinquella

(Bedell, 1848)4.087

One of the more distinctive miners of oak, often with several mines to a single leaf and the larvae are active within "green islands" well into November, sometimes on fallen leaves. It is also seemingly one of the less common Nepticulid species across the UK and there are just a few scattered records from our three counties. Almost certainly under-recorded.

Mine: Either the leaf or a good photograph required

Recorded in 7 (5%) of 140 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1985.
Last Recorded in 2020.
