Antispila treitschkiella

Undoubtedly resident in all three counties (first recorded in Oxon during 2022 and in Berks & Bucks during 2024, sightings not yet mapped) but its extent is as yet unconfirmed. The adult flies in sunshine and its larvae mine the leaves of Cornelian Cherry Cornus mas which is not native to the UK but is commonly grown as an ornamental shrub in parks and gardens.

The name treitschkiella was formerly applied in error to what is now known to be Antispila petryi.

Verification Grade Comment: Make sure host plant is Cornus mas (Cornelian Cherry)

Determination by Genitalia Examination (gen. det.) Required

Mine: Either the leaf or a good photograph required
