Although Nationally Scarce, this is a widespread and fairly common species in the northern half of Bucks at sites where there is plenty of the larval food-plant. However, it is rare or absent elsewhere in our region. A large moth which is variable in appearance but the most frequently encountered form locally is unicolorous.
